Arjuna, third of the five Pandava brothers in the Mahabharata, was the greatest archer of his age and son of the god Indra. Wielding the divine bow Gandiva, he won Draupadi at her swayamvara by piercing a turning target through its reflection. On the eve of the war at Kurukshetra, his charioteer Krishna delivered to him the teaching of the Bhagavad Gita, resolving his despair into duty.
