Bearer of Twelve Labors

Heracles, mightiest of Greek heroes and son of Zeus by the mortal Alcmene, was tormented by the jealous goddess Hera, who drove him to madness in which he slew his own children. To atone, he served King Eurystheus and completed the Twelve Labors, slaying the Nemean lion, the Lernaean Hydra, and the Erymanthian boar, capturing Cerberus from the underworld, and cleansing the Augean stables. For his sufferings he was at last granted immortality among the gods of Olympus.
