Guan Yu

Saint of War, Bearer of the Green Dragon

Guan Yu was a general under the warlord Liu Bei in the late Eastern Han and the Three Kingdoms era, renowned for his loyalty and martial valor. Captured and executed by Sun Quan's forces in 220, he was later deified across Chinese culture as a god of war, brotherhood, and righteousness. Worshipped in temples to this day, he is depicted with a red face, a long beard, and his great guandao blade.
