Queen of the Great Below

Queen of Irkalla, the Mesopotamian land of the dead, Ereshkigal ruled the dust-filled house from which none return. When her sister Inanna descended to her realm, she stripped the goddess of power at seven gates and hung her corpse upon a hook. Even the gods feared to enter her domain, and her grief and wrath governed the laws of the underworld with absolute, sorrowful authority.
