Pachacuti

Earth-Shaker of the Four Quarters

Pachacuti was the ninth Sapa Inca, the visionary ruler who transformed a small kingdom into the vast Tawantinsuyu, the empire of the four quarters. He repelled the Chanca invasion, rebuilt Cusco in the shape of a puma, and is credited with raising the mountain citadel of Machu Picchu. A conqueror and reformer, his name means He Who Remakes the World, and so he did.
