Breath of the Four Winds

Tawhirimatea is the Maori god of storms, winds, and weather, a son of Ranginui the sky and Papatuanuku the earth. Alone among his brothers he refused to allow his parents to be separated, and in fury at their parting he climbed to the sky and unleashed his children, the many winds, against his siblings. His tempests drove the sea-god Tangaroa beneath the waves and battered the forests of Tane, and to this day the gales and squalls are counted his unending wrath.
