The Far-Shooting Sun
Apollo is one of the most revered of the Greek gods, son of Zeus and Leto and twin of Artemis. Lord of the sun and light, he was god of prophecy, music, poetry, healing, and the plague, striking from afar with his silver bow. He slew the great serpent Python and claimed the oracle at Delphi as his own, where his priestess spoke his prophecies, and his lyre was said to bring the heavens themselves into harmony.
