Warden of the Rainbow Bridge

Heimdall is the watchman of the Norse gods, born of nine maiden mothers at the edge of the world. He stands guard at Bifrost, the burning rainbow bridge that joins Asgard to the other realms, needing less sleep than a bird and able to see a hundred leagues by night and to hear wool growing on a sheep and grass rising from the earth. He keeps the horn Gjallarhorn, which he will blow to wake the gods when the giants come at Ragnarok, where he and Loki are fated to slay one another.
