Storm of the Eight Clouds

Susanoo-no-Mikoto, the Japanese god of storms and the sea, was born from the nose of the creator Izanagi and banished from the heavens for his violent rampages, which drove his sister Amaterasu into hiding. Seeking redemption in the land of Izumo, he slew the eight-headed, eight-tailed serpent Yamata-no-Orochi by plying it with sake, and from its tail drew the sacred sword Kusanagi, which he gave to the sun goddess as a peace offering.
