Bearer of the Gorgon's Gaze

Perseus, son of Zeus and the mortal princess Danae, was sent to fetch the head of the Gorgon Medusa, whose gaze turned the living to stone. Aided by Hermes and Athena with winged sandals, a cap of invisibility, and a mirror-bright shield, he beheaded the monster by watching her reflection. Bearing the deadly head, he rescued the princess Andromeda from a sea-monster, and from Medusa's blood sprang the winged horse Pegasus.
