The First Trickster

Coyote is the trickster figure found throughout the myths of many Native American peoples, especially of the western and plains nations. Both creator and fool, he helped shape the world, brought fire and daylight to humankind, and in some tales scattered the stars across the sky. His stories teach as much through his greed, lust, and folly, which constantly land him in disaster, as through his cleverness, making him a being of restless appetite and endless transformation.
