The Reed-Shadow

Across northern Europe the marshes and peat-bogs were places of dread, where travelers vanished and the Iron Age cast its sacrifices and its dead into the black water. From such fens come the lurking outlaws and half-feral hunters of folklore, men who knew the hidden causeways and struck from the reeds, melting back into mist and mire where no pursuer dared follow.
